Andaman Tourism Department to Promote Andaman as All Season Destinations

Andaman is globally renowned for its tourism but as this tourism destination receives footfalls only during the winter season, the Department of Tourism, Andaman and Nicobar Administration (ANA) is working on the initiatives to promote Andaman and Nicobar as all season destination. The tourism department plans to promote the destination by organizing “fairs and festivals” throughout the year.


The Department of Tourism, Andaman & Nicobar Administration (ANA) is working towards positioning the Union Territory as an all-season destination, rather than just a winter destination. The tourism board plans to go about the same by promoting the destinations' fairs and festivals throughout the year.

CG Vijay, Manager (Tourism), Directorate of Information Publicity and Tourism, Andaman and Nicobar Administration said,”The Andaman and Nicobar Islands has many interesting things to share and offer tourists. The Department of Tourism hosts festivals throughout the year and we are putting all our efforts to bring more footfall during these festivals. We are promoting the region and tourism development from January 5-15, the Beach Festival in April, the Music Festival/Monsoon Festival in May/June and the Food Festival in September. In grand way the World Tourism Day will be celebrated on September 27 and Film Festival in November to promote the tourism of Andaman and Nicobar Island. We are also going to promote forest safaris and hiking for promotion of the islands as an all season destination.

ANA will put all its effort to bring positive impact and promotion of tourism both domestic and inbound segements and the youth will be engaged in promoting the islands. It recently took part in Ahmedabad, Surat and Mumbai editions for the Travel and Tourism Fair and now will participate in Chennai editions of the Fair in January 2014. For holding grab on the inbound traffic, ANA will participate in World Travel Market in 2013, which is going to be held in November 4-7 in London and ITB Berilin 2014 (March 5-9)

ANA is also planning to promote a new destination on Great Nicobar Island in the Nicobar Islands, called Indira Point. “ it is an amazingly beautiful island and the southernmost tip of India. At present, we are putting our efforts to bring out good connectivity to the region. Recently we opened up a sea plane service from Port Blair to the islands and now we are working on to improve the catamaran services to the island. We are promoting the island as a destination of day trip,” he added Ref: travelbizmonitor
